Demand side response
The Energy White Paper, Powering our Net Zero Future (CP 337), published in December 2020 by HM Government, defines demand side response (DSR) solutions as: ‘…when consumers adjust their energy usage in response to an external signal. Examples include either reducing it, delaying it, or using on-site generation or storage. DSR was historically provided by large industrial and commercial consumers, but technology development is making it easier for smaller consumers to provide these services for example by charging their electric car with a smart charger.’
Demand side response, Code of practice, Version V.1, Published by Flex Assure on 5 November 2018, defines demand side response (DSR) as: ‘…where energy users change their electricity consumption patterns in response to a signal or incentive; to match supply with demand when fluctuations occur; and to shift demand, including reducing peak demand.’
